Whether your tattoo no longer fits your life or you simply want a clean slate, laser tattoo removal at Lumiere Aesthetics offers a safe, effective path forward under the medical direction of Dr. Elena Marchetti, MD. Our laser delivers rapid, high-energy pulses that shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles. Your body’s immune system then gradually clears those particles away, fading the tattoo session by session.
What to Expect
During your consultation, we assess the tattoo’s size, color, ink depth, age, and location, all of which affect how many sessions you will need, commonly anywhere from five to ten or more. On treatment day, we may apply numbing and provide protective eyewear. The laser pulses feel similar to being snapped by a rubber band or spattered with hot bacon grease, and treatments are brief. Sessions are spaced six to eight weeks apart to give your body time to clear the ink.
Results
Tattoo removal is a gradual process. After each session, the tattoo lightens as your immune system flushes away the fragmented ink. Black and darker inks typically respond fastest, while some colors like green and light blue can be more stubborn. Over your series of treatments, the tattoo fades significantly and, in many cases, disappears. Patience between sessions yields the best final outcome.
Good to Know
Immediately after treatment, expect redness, swelling, and sometimes frosting, blistering, or scabbing, which is a normal part of healing. Proper aftercare and sun protection are essential to avoid pigment changes and to support clearance. Do not pick at scabs. If you are refreshing the treated skin afterward, a chemical peel or microneedling can help improve overall texture once healing is complete. Dr. Marchetti will set realistic expectations based on your specific tattoo.
